Acne and Diet Are More Connected Than You Think

By: Leigh Sharise.

It should go without saying that whatever you eat will affect your body for good or for ill.

The skin happens to be the biggest organ of the human body. It has several jobs, but one thing it's in charge of is helping eliminate waste. If your skin has to get rid of a lot of waste, it's going to look worse for wear. If you eat foods that are less than healthy, it'll show.

Let's explore how and why acne and diet are connected. You may come away with some good tips on how to treat your acne problem just by making diet changes.

You may know that there are lots of acne treatment products available. The thing is, they only treat the symptoms. The products themselves don't address the underlying problem. In other words, they don't prevent your body from producing those annoying blemishes.

One of the best things you can do for yourself, apart from cutting out processed foods, is eating more fruits and vegetables. Your skin produces oils naturally, but unhealthy foods cause your body to excrete even more oils.

Dirty colons are linked to acne problems and other skin conditions. In other words, if you eat enough foods that aren't easily broken down by your digestive tract, the result will be skin problems such as acne. Acne and diet are tightly linked.

These kinds of foods get 'stuck,' so they turn into toxins. What happens then? They can't stay in your body, so they get excreted through your skin. By eating healthy and fiber-rich foods such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, you'll have a better functioning digestive tract and better-looking skin.

What does your everyday diet consist of? Lots of animal products, fried food, coffee, tea, sugar? White flour, alcohol, hydrogenated fats? Microwave food? Painkillers? Chances are good that you have mucoid plaque inside your body.

This nasty gunk likes to feed on old feces; so do other kinds of bacteria.

Another common culprit is called candida. This little bug eats off of the sugars in your food and gives off toxic chemicals that cause allergic reactions and skin problems.

To get more fiber in your diet, try consuming psyllium. You should be able to find it at a grocery or health food store. You can just combine a tablespoon of it with a glass of water, than drink it down.

This food is one of the common ingredients in laxative drinks. This food will keep you regular and will do a fabulous job of cleaning out any bacteria.

Acne and diet are very much linked together. You can find many other foods that will help you eliminate skin problems.
