How to Pop a Pimple the Right Way

By: Leigh Sharise.

Here are the Top Ten Tips for how to pop a pimple.

1. Popping a pimple should be your last and final resort! You must understand that popping a pimple can worsen your acne, since you're spreading bacteria. You may also wind up with an icky red crater, which may be even more unsightly and hurt even more than the whitehead.

2. Never pop a pimple that doesn't have a head on it at all, as that will only serve to push bacteria down under your skin.

3. Whether you're dealing with a blackhead or a whitehead, you need to soften your pimple first. This is easy enough to do. You'll need to use an extremely hot washcloth, or you can also steam your face. This will help soften the puss, making it easier to pop out.

4. Make sure your hands are as clean as possible. Clean under your fingernails as well. You don't want to introduce any dirt or oils that will clog or infect the sore that you're creating.

5. Now, gently poke or prod at your pimple. Frequently, a softened pimple won't need much more than a single poke to have it releasing its puss. If that's the case, you're done with learning how to pop a pimple.

6. If you're dealing with a stubborn pimple, use a piece of facial tissue or gauze to gently squeeze the pimple. Let the material soak up the puss.

7. You'll know it's time to stop when you see white or yellow fluid come out, along with a hard core. If you see clear liquid and blood, stop. You've drained the pimple sufficiently and you don't want to irritate the injury.

8. Apply some antibacterial cream to your ex-pimple to help it heal.

9. Make sure your popped pimple doesn't get infected. Keep an eye on it. You really don't want to have to see a doctor and get antibiotics to deal with a painful, infected bump on your nose.

10. Use it as a last resort! Did I mention that already? Seriously, popping pimples can cause more problems than it solves.

And there you have it: Ten easy steps showing you how to pop a pimple!
